Who should I say is calling?

Leonard Cohen - The Best of Leonard Cohen

I know, I know. I told my dentist recently that I was traveling around the world and that's why I haven't been able to come in and see them. I would've attempted to use that same excuse here but you know me too well. Heads up for a Jack-o post coming this weekend --but I must post the following, if anything to rejuvenate the creative process.

So, am I the only person that didn't know about shuffle on your iPod? The Pointy Universe recently quizzilled about the first 5 songs that come up on your shuffle. I mean, I've heard of shuffle and I think even have seen it in my itunes library, but I haven't been in there for a while because I switched comp's lately (side note: if you know how I can get my library off one comp and onto another, there's a nugget of goodness waiting for you). This thing is GREAT! Other than the "crowd tracks" from some live shows that come up to remind me that they shouldn't be taking up space on my device, I am loving this! The disappointing part is that every person I tell, to see if they get as excited as I did, look at me a bit awkward because I didn't know about this feature. Actually, its the same look Jack gives me when I try to change his diaper and put him back in his clothes. That kind of "roll your eyes, you've definitely never done this before" look.

Here's what happened with my first shuffle attempt:

1. Christmas at the Zoo -Flaming Lips
2. Viet Nam -Jimmy Cliff
3. Who by Fire -Phish
4. Ballad of Jed Clampett -Bela Fleck and the Flecktones
5. Down Syndrome -De La Soul

Who by Fire? What tha? A Phish tune I've never heard of? I had to go back and look at this further. A Leonard Cohen song thrown in a jam in Atlanta in '94. A very cool song which had me running out to Green Apple on Clement Street to pick up a used cd of Leonard Cohen to familiarize myself with him. As you might expect, Phish expectedly hacked this thing up, but yet again I'm introduced to a new musical act because of them, thanks to shuffle. Can you imagine if I never heard them play GoodXBadX??

Check your shuffle and let me know if you find any hidden gems...

Side note: I started this post about 2months ago and just pushed it live today, specifically because Higgins told me I'm removed from his RSS feeder. I need more negative reinforcement.
